From the 3rd Passover to the start of the final week

  • The reaction of the apostles

Pericope 172 recounts the reaction of the apostles after Jesus walked on the water and calmed the storm. Set at Gennesaret in April AD 32, the episode is reported by Matthew and Mark. The disciples bow down and proclaim: 'You are truly the Son of God', marking a decisive step in their faith and in the progressive Christological revelation of the Gospels.

Mark 6.53-56 (King James Version) :
And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

Contradictions

  • Peter’s discovery?

John 12.16 (King James Version) :
These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

Pierre's Ministry

  • Matthias's Choice

Matthew 10.1-4 (King James Version) :
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

  • Pierre's Speech

Matthew 5.1-2 (King James Version) :
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

  • The Defense of Peter and John Before the Sanhedrin

John 6.68-69 (King James Version) :
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
