The healing of Jairus' daughter
Pericope 155 recounts the raising of Jairus' daughter by Jesus the Messiah at Capernaum (Feb.–Mar. AD 32). Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, prostrates himself before Jesus to implore the healing of his dying daughter. Despite the delay caused by the healing of a woman with a hemorrhage, Jesus goes to the house, says “Talitha koumi,” and raises the young girl. This miracle bears witness to his authority over death and calls for faith even in desperate situations.
Matthew 9.23-26 (King James Version) :And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.King James Version (1769), domaine public — texte : eBible.org
