Comments

Jesus the Messiah felt the need to withdraw to pray to his Father, away from the bustle. He did not share these moments of reflection with his disciples; he slipped away so discreetly that those close to him looked for him. When the crowd returned, the disciples, still inexperienced, searched for him urgently.

Everything rested on him. A new day, like the previous ones, was about to begin, giving him no respite.

What was this crowd seeking?

Clearly, these people longed first and foremost for healing. However, the crowd relegated Jesus' main objective, proclaiming the kingdom of heaven, to second place.

How could he refuse healing to this crowd of sick people?

The difficulty of managing the situation was evident, and it was crucial that Jesus should not be seen merely as a healer. The message took precedence.

These verses reveal the considerable pressure on Jesus. The crowd in Capernaum was witnessing extraordinary moments.
